Early Spring in the South

Lent is over next week and Holy Week commences. As I was leaving my weekly Bible Study, I was contemplating Spring. I love how the flowers help to pass the time and ease us through the beautiful season!  First the crocuses then the daffodils and forsythia. This week I am enjoying as the dogwoods unfold just in time for Easter Sunday!

I think that although autumn is my favorite, spring is enchanting. Whenever I talk to someone who has had the misfortune of leaving our beautiful state, the first thing they ask is " Are the dogwoods out yet?". Last week I was talking to our youngest daughter. We were discussing what she misses most. First her dog then the changing of the seasons. We talked about the flow of the flowers in North Carolina as you find your way from the snowdrops in February to the berries on the Nandinas in  October. It made her nostalgic and me grateful. There really is no better place to be.
