Goals and other thoughts

As promised, I have come up with 12 goals for 2017. These are things I want to accomplish or work on and will be the focus of much of my writings this year.

1. Buy only essentials in 2017. (And for the record, I consider travel and "experiences" essential)
2. Exercise a total of 3 hours a week. ( I would love an exercise buddy or two if you are interested)
3. Practice a new skill 1 hour a week. (There are several things I have been meaning to learn to do and this is my chance!)
4. Write a letter and blog once a week.
5. Deep clean one area per month. First up~ guest room. Expect pictures!
6.Turn downsizing into $5000. ( I am looking into eBay valet if anyone has any experience)
7. Get rid of 1000 things.
8 Read 75 Books in 52 weeks (you can follow that on my goodreads feed)
9. Track hours spent on reading/computer/tv.
10. Twelve house projects in twelve months.
11. Credit card debt free by the end of the year.(this is YUGE!)
12. Memorize one poem a month.

In addition, I usually pick a saying for my year.

2017: The most important moment is now.

I know that some of these are more ambitious than others and I can not PROMISE to get everything done but I hope you will help hold me accountable and follow along. What do you think? Do you have any goals or ideas springing YOU into 2017?

Till later ~

Finishing out the year

As this year finishes, I am filled with gratitude. It's been a very busy time for our family. So.many.changes.

In April, DH (Darling Husband) accepted a new position. In NYC. Exciting and scary at the same time. We would be able to try out the urban living style we had been contemplating. But it was a short term assignment (less than 3 years) so we didn't really want to sell our NC home. Decision made. He would move there and I would maintain our home here. We were able to find a lovely apartment in LIC ( Long Island City) and I have been commuting there regularly. DH has our cats (Sofia and Scarlett). It's been amazing!

In June DD#1 (Dear Daughter) and husband moved to Seattle. Their cross country trek and discovery of the Great NW has been a lovely journey to watch. They seem very happy. Both are working at things they love and that is always a good thing.

In August DD#2 and I travelled over the Pond to Ireland. She will be working on her masters there at Trinity College for the next year. It was the first time either of us has been there. I quickly fell in love with the city of Dublin and the people. The rivers, the rain, the cool weather ! I was in heaven. She is having a blast, learning and growing. I love her updates and am so happy she is happy!

I have been so blessed this year. I have been traveling and experiencing new things. Although it has been a big adjustment, I am learning to live in several places at any time and actually manage to enjoy the experience.

I have taken a hint from a blog I read regularly : onehundreddollarsamonth.com. So, next year I will be working towards 12 goals and plan on blogging regularly. Hope you will be able to join me. I would love for you to help with my accountability and be along for the ride!

Look for the goals soon!
Till then ~
